Relationship Positioning
Position a cross-market relationship on each of the five dimensions of the Partnership Continuum™, from Gateway to Partner, and record what each position is based on. The purpose is not to score the relationship but to see its shape: which dimensions have institutional depth, and which remain transactional.
A gateway is a point of passage. A partnership compounds institutions. Neither end is a verdict: some relationships are appropriately transactional, and a gateway that functions well is more valuable than a partnership asserted but not built.

Methodology, scoring and limitations
Status
The Partnership Continuum™ framework is published. Its diagnostic application is being tested with a selected group of institutional practitioners — institutions, governments, investors and advisers examining cross-market relationships — before wider release.
What is assessed
A structured review across five relationship dimensions: capital, institutional relationships, talent, regulatory architecture and networks of trust.
How responses are interpreted
Responses are interpreted across the framework’s relationship and governance dimensions. The result supports structured discussion and judgement; it does not prescribe a transaction structure or replace legal and commercial advice.
How evidence gaps are treated
Each dimension is positioned along the gateway–partner continuum, and dimensions you cannot yet evidence are marked “not positioned” rather than assumed. Evidence notes stay in the browser and are never submitted.
Limitations
- Positioning is analytical rather than quantitative and rests on judgement that should be stated.
- It describes the structure of a relationship at a point in time; it is not a ranking of financial centres, countries or institutions.
- It supports structured discussion and does not replace legal or commercial advice.
Positioning is a matter of judgement and is self-reported. Your evidence notes and the relationship you name stay in this browser and are never sent to TM Alpha. If you request a written readout, only your positions are shared, in line with our privacy notice. This instrument does not rank markets, corridors or institutions, and does not produce a score.

Relationship profile
Interpreting this profile
The output reveals where a relationship is transactional and where it has developed institutional depth. It does not assert that every relationship should sit at the Partner end. Some relationships are appropriately transactional, and a gateway that functions well is more valuable than a partnership asserted but not built. What the framework resists is the assumption that flow is evidence of depth.
What a position is not
A position on the continuum is not any of the following:
- a percentile
- a probability
- a prediction
- a market benchmark
- an assurance opinion
- a ranking of markets, corridors or institutions
Limitations
- Positioning is analytical, not quantitative. It is not a ranking of financial centres, countries or institutions, and TM Alpha does not publish comparative scores.
- The framework describes the structure of a relationship at a point in time. Regulatory change, capital cycles and political shifts can move a dimension quickly.
- It does not assert that partnership is always preferable. Some relationships are appropriately transactional.
- Evidence for several dimensions, particularly trust and relationship continuity, is observable but not easily measured. Judgement is required and should be stated.
