This notice explains what TM Alpha collects when you use tmalpha.com, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The short version
TM Alpha does not run advertising, analytics or third-party tracking on this site. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no social widgets and no fonts loaded from a third-party network. Nothing you read here is recorded against you. The only personal information TM Alpha holds is what you type into a form and send.
What we collect, and when
If you subscribe
Your first name, last name and email address. Used to send you new Intelligence, Perspectives and Briefs, and nothing else.
If you request a publication
Your name, email address, institution and role. Used to send you the file you asked for, and to understand which institutions the research is reaching.
If you express interest in The Closed Room
Your name, organisation, role, email address, area of interest and, if you choose to give it, a note on why the subject is relevant to your work. Used to consider your interest. Submitting does not create any entitlement to an invitation.
If you contact us
Your name, email address and the content of your message.
All of it is information you choose to give. We do not buy contact data, and we do not enrich or append to what you send.
Where it is held
Submissions are stored in this website’s own database on TM Alpha’s hosting, not in a third-party marketing platform. Access is limited to TM Alpha. Your details are never sold, rented or shared for anyone else’s marketing.
If TM Alpha later uses an email delivery provider to send the subscriber list, this notice will be updated to name it before that happens.
Server logs
Like any website, this one sits on a web server that keeps standard access logs — IP address, request, timestamp, browser user agent. These are generated by the hosting infrastructure for security and diagnostics, kept for a limited period, and not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies and browser storage
TM Alpha sets no advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress sets a session cookie only if you log in as an administrator, which does not apply to readers.
The site stores one small value in your own browser to remember that you have already seen or completed the subscribe panel, so you are not asked twice. It stays in your browser, is never transmitted to TM Alpha, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Files and links
Publications are served as PDFs from this domain. Where an article cites an external institution or primary source, following that link takes you to a site TM Alpha does not control and whose own privacy practices apply.
How long we keep it
Subscriber details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Publication requests and expressions of interest are kept while they remain relevant to the work, and reviewed periodically.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask TM Alpha to give you a copy of what it holds about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how it is used, or receive it in a portable form. You can withdraw consent to receive email at any time — every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is honoured without question.
Ask through the contact page and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how TM Alpha has handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this notice changes materially, the date below changes with it.
